Meath Care is committed to providing the highest quality of care and accommodation for its residents – our new 130 bed, state of the art aged-care facility will open in May, 2019.
The Michael Lee Centre will open in early 2019. Situated in the leafy streets of Como and the scenic surrounds of Collier Park Golf course, the new centre will offer state of the art services and a welcoming home-like atmosphere. This innovative centre has incorporated current best practice design to ensure the older person can live comfortably in a modern environment.
Built over 2 levels, the centre is divided into 8 small houses, each with single bedrooms with private en-suites. Each house has its own front door, lounge/dining room, activity area and private family room.
Each house is attractively furnished throughout to create a home like atmosphere. Within each house there is a dining room, lounge area and seating nooks where residents can meet with family and friends. There is also a beautifully furnished ‘quiet room’ available for residents and families who would prefer privacy, for a chat or to play a quiet game of scrabble, cards etc.
The manicured gardens, secure outdoor settings and communal areas provide spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy. the centre will boast a cafe enabling residents, family and friends to socialise.
A hairdressing and beautician salon will also be available. A choice of meals, from menus developed in conjunction with dieticians will be prepared on site, providing fresh and varied meals for our residents.
the latest technology has been integrated to ensure our on-site team of registered nurses, care staff, hospitality, allied health and administration staff will provide the highest quality accommodation and services catering for older people, those living with dementia and respite services.
The Como centre currently provides accommodation and services catering for 38 residents living with dementia in a secure environment supported by our devoted team of staff. These residents will transfer to the new Michael Lee Centre when opened.

Applying for Residential Care
To apply for residency at Meath Care applicants need to:
- Complete an Application for Admission.
- Provide a completed and current ACAT assessment.
- Provide a completed and current Centrelink or Dept of Veterans Affairs Assets and Income Assessment.
It is recommended that applicants read the booklet “Steps to Enter an Aged Care Home” published by the Department of Health.
Meath Care Como is fully accredited for 3 years with the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency. Please refer to our latest Consumer Experience Report if you wish to read further information.
